I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner.....
Warm-ups to start the day and then warm-downs to end the day. Genius I tells ya! GENIUS! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*Ahem* Right. But yeah, this is warm-down 1, and Imma be doing these and warm-ups more often. It's a good way to draw from life and photos to replenish the ol' mental library. In this case to put in the ol' noggin what's not there yet, which is how to draw women! :)
When I was in high school, my art teacher Linda L. told me not to look at things when I drew because it was cheating. So for years I would draw from my head, and it took me a little longer to know what I was drawing. I'm telling you this in case someone gives you the same bogus advice, or gives you a hard time about it. Drawing from life and photos is a legit way to build your mental library, so you can draw what you know from your head, when you're ready. :)
Hope y'all digs!

Awesome drawings Cheeks! Thanks for the good advice too!
no doubt. my basic drawing class back in the school days had a very cool and knowledgable teacher.
he was all about references. buy books with photos and references. he had a british/scottish accent depending how lit up he was.
books books and photos draw from life. go to the library use the internet its full of references!
spot on dude - i think it was very much the norm for tutors or even other class mates to look down on you for using photo reference, but it's only gonna help u expand yer knowledge base. Especially when it's the ladies! woot!
WORD!
jriggity
Yeah, as far as photo reference good, Ian Mccaig might have said it best in on his Gnomon DVDs. They are generally two philosophical extremes when it comes to reference. Simply refusing to use any reference at all and then using too much and relying on it as a crutch. Both are generally wrong, since the people who generally do everything completely out of their head tend to draw a lot of the same things over and over again.

nice piece of advice..neatly placed. though a perfect balance is the right answer,i sometimes even take a trip to the wild.
its like relying on a spontaneous shape that the mind throws on the paper.the trick is to completely leave this game to the mind.
i think of drawing a character, but i never take a reference till i get a weird stuff on the paper.weird to me is something i have not done or seen before.
its often great to imagine jumping off an airplane and then think of the parachute which you should have taken.
when i get this geometry,i go back for references and think of how to integrate stuff with the shape.
guys theres no thumb rule..
but cheeks, you and bengal draw some awesome chicks mann!!
kudos and keep inspiring
( im so envious when you guys talk about your art teachers..i was never lucky enough to attend any art classes \:)
